Welcome to FlexCommLab Projects Page
FlexCommLab is an open source environment designed to facilitate the exploration of flexibility in radio communication systems. Such flexibility is based on the assumption of Software Radio concepts as a baseline to incorporate Cognitive Radio approaches and strategies. An important effort is currently being done in introducing resource management of the whole radio context.
The objective of FlexCommLab is to offer to the research community the capacity to easily design and develop new radio environments, sharing hardware platforms and available modules from different waveforms, where to introduce and test new strategies and/or algorithms.
FlexCommLab is compound of several projects each one of them related with different aspects capable to offer flexibility to the wireless systems. The currently running frameworks and projects are:
- P-HAL-OE?: Has been designed to be a light software layer that incorporates the Hardware Abstraction Layer and the Execution Environment functionalities of a cluster of heterogeneous processors, GPPs, DSPs, FPGAs, etc. It facilitates the deployment of software modules into the different processors assuring the real-time constraints and providing mechanisms for monitoring and managing the available computing resources.
- ModRCommHW?:Modular Radio Communication HWardware is a repository of HW designs that are freely available by the research community.
- RTCCommCL:Real-Time Computing Communication Cluster is an cluster of heterogeneous processors that is available to the research community where to test the new developed waveforms, management strategies of algorithms. It is based in a mix of PCs and PS3, as Linux machines, and DSPs that can be remotely loaded by using the P-HAL-OE framework.
* FlexRWaves: Flexible Radio Waves is a repository folder of available modules for different radio waveforms: UMTS, WiMAX by the moment
